Welcome to La Luna del Amazonas!
We are a holistic healing center where ancient traditions and modern safety walk hand in hand. Resting on the banks of the great Amazon River, embraced by pristine rainforest, we honor the wisdom of our ancestors while creating a safe and comfortable space for guests from all over the world.
Our purpose is to safeguard the ancient Amazonian healing traditions, unaltered by Western influence, and to share them in their purest form.
In this video, you’ll hear directly from our guests as they share their experiences with us.
Our retreats are guided by the medicine men and woman from the village, whose wisdom flows from generations of experience. Ceremonies are held in intimate groups of no more than 10 participants, creating a safe circle of trust, warmth, and personal attention. With care, respect, and integrity, we walk beside you as the medicine opens pathways of healing and transformation.
Here, you merge with the jungle. You come to release burdens, dissolve stress, and allow nature to weave its medicine through you. In this deep communion, the mind grows still, the heart awakens, and the spirit remembers its original harmony.
Healing with Respect for Tradition
Modern medicine often treats symptoms in isolation, creating customers rather than cures. True healing, however, must embrace the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. This is where Ayahuasca and Amazonian shamanism reveals mastery.
In the way of Amazonian shamanism, healing touches every level of our being: body, mind and spirit, as all are deeply interconnected.
Our team of native shamans and international facilitators are dedicated to supporting every participant on their personal journey.
As we work in small groups, the shamans can focus on healing, energy work, and deep ceremonial guidance rather than simply serving medicine and sing songs.
Each ceremony includes a personal limpieza (energetic cleanse) and Arcana (spiritual protection).
The shamans are guardians of an ancient lineage, carrying wisdom passed down through generations and we honor these traditions with fidelity. While we adapt to meet the needs of international guests, we never distort or commercialize the medicine. Ayahuasca is not entertainment; it is a sacred teacher. The shamans role is not only to serve medicine but to act as intermediaries between the physical and spiritual worlds, drawing upon their own journeys to heal emotional wounds, release trapped energies, and dissolve blockages that can manifest as stress or disease.
We honor the traditional path
While we know that many modern retreats present a “spiritual buffet” of different plants and outside healing techniques to meet Western expectations. In native Amazonian shamanism, this is understood as a confusion of energies that can result in what they call cutipado. Among indigenous people, ayahuasca is regarded as a jealous plant, that should not be mixed.
Ayahuasca works best alone.
When her current is crossed with other energies, the purity of her teaching is disturbed, and at times this interference can even become dangerous. To respect Ayahuasca is to trust that she is enough.
By choosing this way, we preserve the integrity of the medicine, allowing her wisdom to shine clearly. With the support of both our Peruvian shamans and international facilitators, we create a safe and sacred space for transformation.
Our ayahuasca retreat program ensures enough time for meditation, reflection and integration, ensuring that each retreat is not just an encounter with Ayahuasca, but a profound journey of healing and reconnection with one’s purpose.
It was the most religious experience of my life.

A Visionary Journey
Ayahuasca often opens the doorway to visions, some as vivid and precise as a memory, others flowing like fragments of a dream. They can be breathtakingly beautiful or unsettling and strange. You may encounter scenes from your own life, symbolic landscapes, or beings from the spirit world. Some visions bring clarity and comfort, while others challenge you, stirring deep emotions or fears.
In the moment, the difficult experiences can feel overwhelming, but in truth they are often the most profound. Ayahuasca works not only through what it shows you, but also through what it helps you release. These challenging visions may guide you to confront hidden wounds, reveal patterns that no longer serve you, or invite you to purge energies you have carried for too long. This process of seeing, feeling, and letting go, is a central part of the healing journey, and it happens in a way that serves your highest good.
The day after each ceremony, we gather in the Maloka, the sacred temple of the retreat, to share and reflect. In this circle, we share as muchn or as little as we want, and offering guidance and interpretations rooted in ancestral knowledge. This group integration helps you understand the deeper meaning behind your visions and feelings. In addition, you can have a personal consultations with our shamans, where the shaman can address your individual journey, answer your questions, and guide you toward continued healing both during and after your time here.
How to change your mind
We are honored to share that La Luna del Amazonas and our translator, Enrique, are acknowledged in the Swedish edition of Michael Pollan’s internationally acclaimed book How to Change Your Mind. This groundbreaking work explores the history, science, and spiritual dimensions of psychedelic substances (including ayahuasca) and has inspired readers worldwide to reconsider the role of these medicines in healing and personal growth. The book’s impact reached even further when it was adapted into a Netflix documentary series, which quickly rose to the Netflix Top List, bringing these conversations into millions of homes around the world. Our contribution to the Swedish translation ensured that the cultural and spiritual nuances of Amazonian plant medicine were conveyed with authenticity and respect. Being recognized in such an influential work is not only a privilege, but also a reflection of our ongoing commitment: to preserve the traditions of Amazonian shamanism while sharing them responsibly with the world.
