Welcome!

Soon, you’ll find yourself deep in the magical world of the shamans and the Amazon rainforest. We honor your courage in embarking on this journey and traveling all the way to the source of ayahuasca to receive healing and sacred teachings.

🛬 Arrival & Transport

We recommend arriving in Iquitos on Sunday, the day before the retreat begins This gives you time to adjust to the climate and be ready for the journey upriver the next day.

On Monday at 12:00 PM, We will meet you outside Restaurante Fitzcarraldo, Calle Napo 102.

From there, we’ll travel together, a short tuk-tuk or bus ride to the port, then about an hour’s scenic boat ride along the Amazon River to the center, where we’ll share a welcome lunch.

That afternoon, we’ll gather for an introductory meeting, and you’ll have time to rest before meeting the shamans for your private consultation.

The retreat ends Sunday morning. We’ll depart around 10 AM and return to Iquitos by noon, leaving enough time to catch flights departing from 2:00 PM onward.

🚕 Transportation Tips in Iquitos

– Tuk-Tuks and Taxis is found easily just walking out of the Airport.

– Tuk-tuks from the airport to downtown Iquitos cost about 30 soles

– A car taxi is usually about double that

– Tuk-tuks within the city center are usually 5 soles per ride, and are the most common (and fun) way to get around

✅ Always agree on the price before the trip.

🌱 Preparing Your Body & Spirit

Pre-Diet Recommendations

We understand there’s a lot of conflicting information about how to prepare for an ayahuasca retreat. Don’t worry about getting it “perfect.”

Here in the jungle, local patients often come to the shamans already ill, with no time for strict preparation diets, and that’s okay. The most important part of the dieta begins after the first ceremony, once the medicine is working within you.

That said, eating clean beforehand helps your body release toxins early, allowing you to go deeper into the emotional and spiritual layers from the beginning.

We strongly recommend preparing at least 3 days before the retreat, ideally a full week.

Try to reduce:

– Processed foods

– Salt

– Sugar

– Spicy or heavily seasoned foods

– Dairy products

Avoid completely:

– Pork and red meat (chicken and fish are fine)

– Alcohol and recreational drugs

– Sexual activity (including masturbation)

But don’t stress too much. Do your best: eat light, stay hydrated, the medicine meets you where you are.

🧘 Setting Your Intention

Ask yourself gently:

Why am I coming to this retreat?

This simple question is the first doorway into healing. You’ll have a chance to share your intention with the shamans on the first day, even though the medicine already knows.

Whether you arrive with a clear goal or only a quiet feeling you can’t yet express, that’s perfectly okay. Ayahuasca listens beyond language.

The most important thing is to surrender. Let go of control, trust the process to fully allow the medicine to work through you.

🌀 Letting Go of Expectations

Each ceremony is different, and every journey is unique. Some expect vivid visions right away, but Ayahuasca speaks many languages.

“Serenity comes when you trade expectations for acceptance.”

— Gautama Buddha

Let yourself feel, trust, and receive.

💊 Medications & Vaccines

We recommend consulting directly with your travel medicine or vaccination doctor.

Local doctors in this area generally advise against antimalarial pills, as malaria is nearly non-existent. In the rare case it occurs, diagnosis and treatment are easier when no prophylaxis has been taken, since the pills can sometimes cause false negatives in testing.

If malaria prophylaxis is required for your travels, the most recommended with Ayahuasca is Malarone (atovaquone-proguanil).

If you are currently taking any medication, consult your doctor to see if it is safe to pause before, during, and after your retreat. Do not stop prescribed medication without medical guidance.

⚠️ Important: Some medications, especially SSRIs or others affecting the serotonergic system, can take up to 6 weeks to clear — so please check this well in advance.

Upon arrival, you will complete a detailed health questionnaire, which we will review with the shamans during your private consultation to determine any precautions or adjustments needed.

🤝 Supporting the Local Community

We are close to a small village and the indigenous Yagua community. Though spiritually rich, many families face economic hardship, especially regarding their children’s education.

If you have room in your luggage, consider bringing:

– Clothes and shoes (children’s and adults’)

– School supplies (notebooks, pencils, backpacks)

– Electronics, toys, or items you no longer use

No pressure — your presence is already a generous offering.

⚠️ A Note on Iquitos

While Iquitos is generally safe, you may encounter street hustlers, especially in tourist areas.

They may name-drop Guido, Natalia, Oscar, Jessica, Enrique, Lidia, or others to gain your trust. Some may even claim they work or have worked with us. Please ignore them.

You do not need to bring gifts for the shamans or pay anyone outside our official team.

After Your Retreat

When you depart, the shamans will give you post-diet guidelines, usually asking you to avoid:

– Pork

– Alcohol

– Sexual activity

– Street drugs

– Other energetic plants, healing techniques, and certain substances

This helps you fully integrate the pure ayahuasca energy you have received, along with the emotional and energetic healing.

You’ll also receive additional guidance on how to continue your integration and maximize the benefits of the teachings.

⚠️ We generally don’t recommend staying too long in the city of Iquitos after the retreat. It’s a lively and intense city, the largest in the Peruvian Amazon. Instead, consider joining a jungle tour or traveling to a more peaceful destination such as Cusco or another relaxing spot, if you are not returning home directly after the retreat.
